  • The microwave moisture sensor is based on the significant differences in the microwave range of the complex permittivity of the water and dry components, of which the paper and cardboard consists. Therefore, the permittivity of the paper web (cardboard web) is quite the same even with low moisture content. Constructively, the moisture meter is designed as a bimodal, microwave cavity with a transverse slot and consists of two parts that are mounted to the upper and lower platform of scanning device. In a resonator excited by two types of oscillations, one of which is interacting with paper web (cardboard web), and the second - didn't interacting. Using such a solution provides a stable reading while changing the gap width of resonator and the ambient temperature.

    When placed investigated material in the cavity gap its electrodynamic characteristics that depend on the moisture content and density is changing. Calculation of moisture paper web (cardboard web) is made using information from the radioisotopic paper weight sensor.

    Control of measurement process and calculations are made by embedded microprocessor, which additionally implements communication with the operator's station using CAN interface.
